About Us

 

marketingQED was created in early 2007 as a new enterprise which would create innovative software for the marketing industry. Owned and managed by John Dawson and Andrew Barnes, marketingQED has the ability to work with clients across most industries and geographies.

Our first commercial release is a product called modelQED® - a unique marketing mix analysis tool that combines powerful search techniques with a rules based approach to create reliable models to uncover the relationships between marketing and business performance.

John Dawson


John Dawson

John started his marketing career at PHD (then known as New PHD) in their Brand Science division. As a trained economist, John was soon helping some of PHD’s key clients analyse their marketing efforts.

In 2001, John moved to Accenture where he was the first employee of the Marketing Sciences division. During his time at Accenture, John helped many international organisations improve their marketing ROI through the application of scientific measurement techniques together with the creation and deployment of tools to help with the decision making process. During this period, John designed and managed development of a wide range of tools for major multinationals and it was this experience which led him to co-found marketingQED.

John has experience working around the world across multiple industries including telecoms, consumer goods, automotive, hospitality, consumer electronics and banking.

Drew Barnes

With a background in marketing and software development, in 2000 Drew joined Edge Consulting and became responsible for the design and development of econometric modelling and optimisation tools, and also bespoke custom applications for media agencies and a major telecom client.

Two years later, Edge Consulting was acquired by Accenture and joined their Marketing Sciences division. Drew was given responsibilty for the design and development of the full portfolio of software applications for the Marketing Sciences practice globally.

In 2005, Drew left Accenture to set up his own business, Sutherland Barnes Consulting Limited, and has since worked in a consulting role for Accenture, assisting them in the further development of their systems and, more recently, developed the systems behind marketingQED.

Prior to joining Edge Consulting, Drew worked for ABB Energy Information Systems developing energy trading software for the deregulated energy markets and also managing marketing & quality systems within the motor industry.
